Community garden a true commUNITY effort

Posted

BAY MINETTE — The community garden at the Douglasville School of Arts & Recreation in Bay Minette is coming along thanks to the help of volunteers.

The raised garden beds were built and installed by Baldwin County High School FFA members.

Recently, volunteers from M-Fuge, North Baldwin Center for Technology and Light of the City began the task of filling the beds with soil. This project is part of the Light the Way Family Initiative, which also included the renovation of the gymnasium floor as well as construction of a walking track and pavilion.

The project was funded through a grant from Impact 100 Baldwin County, with support from the City of Bay Minette and North Baldwin Utilities.

North Baldwin Center for Technology also partnered with the campus to purchase garden equipment and supplies through a grant awarded by the North Baldwin Coalition for Excellence in Education.
