Ernest E. "Bub" Bishop, age 94, a lifelong resident of Fairhope, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2019.
Bub was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Philippines and Japan during World War II.
He was the last surviving charter member of the Fairhope Elks Lodge. Bub was also an inductee of the Fairhope High School Hall of Fame.
Bub was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Bishop; his parents, Charles and Maude Bishop; his sister, Estelle Spader; and two sons-in-law, Randy Dowsey and Wesley Leavins.
He is survived by his three daughters, Carolyn "Penny" Odom (Larry), Sandra Lee (Danny) and Donna Dowsey; his five grandchildren, Prissy Leavins Rorex, Brent Dowsey, Danielle Hartin, Heath Dowsey and Jessica Leavins; eight great-grandchildren, Brantley, Jake, Jacob, Luke, Drew, Carson, Alli and Tristyn; and many other loving relatives and friends.
We would like to thank all of his caretakers for the last months of their great care.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Belforest Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Fairhope Christian Church, where he was a longstanding member.
