Two students at Fairhope Intermediate School are $150 richer after winning a statewide Stock Market Club contest.
The Stock Market Club at Fairhope Intermediate School is made up of sixth graders and sponsored by Christina Henson, 6th Grade Teacher.
Students are given $100,000 in virtual money and allowed to buy, sell and trade stock in real time in the Stock Market while competing statewide for cash prizes up to $150. The Stock Market Game is the platform that makes the trading possible, the Alabama Council on Economic Education (ACEE) educates teachers about the program, and local and nationwide sponsors provide money for the cash prizes.
Tucker Marlow and Sydney Gray came in first in the south division for Alabama grades 4-8. They earned a $150 check for their efforts and were honored at a banquet on April 22 in Birmingham which included the ACEE, local and nationwide sponsors, and parents and teachers.
Eddie Tyler, Superintendent of Baldwin County Public Schools, also attended to support the winners.
