FOLEY - The Foley Senior Center had an awesome Oct., celebrating the 14th Annual Halloween Party on Tue., Oct. 29 at the Foley Civic Center. The event featured door prizes, a toilet bowl toss, a luncheon, and the big moment, a festive costume contest. Brandon Styles, star of three separate shows at OWA, hosted the contest while delighting guests with magic tricks in between, and employees of the Fire Department judged and acted as DJ during the event.

But with as much fun as Oct. was, wait until you see what’s been planned for Nov., a time of year the center staff and members remember all the things they have been blessed with and that they have to be thankful for. There are less days this month to squeeze fun into as the center will be closed on Nov. 12 for Veteran’s Day and on Nov. 28 and 29 for Thanksgiving holiday.

For those who have signed up to participate in or wish to participate in the upcoming Foley Christmas Parade, a mandatory meeting will be held on Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. to discuss the holiday plans. Stick around the center until 2 p.m. to play a game of BINGO.

Coffee with Joe Aldrete from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department will be held on Tue., Nov. 19 at 9 a.m. Later that same day, head over to the Foley Public Library to partake in some Movie Madness at 1 p.m. Cost is 50 cents for concessions, and this month’s feature will be “The Farewell,” rated PG. Please call to reserve your place.

Who’s ready for some fishing? On Wed., Nov. 20, center members will head to Orange Beach to have some fishing fun. The bus leaves the center at 8 a.m. to head to a pier with some cover down at the beach. Cost is $10 and includes lunch and bait. Signup at the center, and remember that non-residents or those under 65 will need a Salt Water Fishing License and those 65 or older will need a driver’s license or issued ID. Participants will need a rod & reel and tackle; the center will help anglers without these items. It’s recommended to bring along a folding chair, hand rag, sunscreen, and a hat for the trip.

With the time change, Dinner B4 Dark will now become Brunch Bunch! On Nov. 21, the bus will be leaving the center at 9 a.m. heading to Ruby Slipper in Orange Beach. This month’s potluck will be held on Nov. 26, with turkey provided by the City of Foley.

Those hoping to share Thanksgiving Day with fellow members can call and make their reservations for Nov. 28, when the center will open the doors from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. to welcome those wanting to enjoy a traditional holiday dinner with friends. Partnering with Calvary Chapel in Foley, the staff is looking to create a family atmosphere where members are offered a chance to spend the holiday together.

Aside from the big monthly events, the Foley Senior Center has weekly events happening throughout the entire month, including crochet and knitting, line dancing, square dancing, open jams, pinochle, yoga, ballroom lessons, cards, photography clubs, and lots more!
