BAY MINETTE, Alabama — The Bay Minette Police Department has arrested a former Baldwin County High School student for making terroristic threats against the school.
The arrest was made after a post began circulating on social media following the Alabama Crimson Tide’s loss to LSU on Saturday, saying, “Since bama lost to LSU I will be shooting up bay minette High school on Tuesday, nov. 12.”
According to a release issued by the Bay Minette Police Department, the 17-year-old juvenile, who is not being identified because of age, is a former student.
“Due to the quick work of our School Resource Officers, Patrol Officers, Investigators, Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and the Mobile Office, Baldwin County DA’s Office and the Mobile Office of the FBI Division, we were able to identify and quickly arrest the offender responsible for this criminal act,” said Bay Minette Police Chief Al Tolbert in a released statement.
“We do not take these threats (lightly) and will pursue any individual who threatens our students, teachers, administrators, and educational institutions.
“We have additional officers on and around our four school campuses this week to ensure our students and staff feel safe and most importantly are safe.”
Because of the arrest involved a juvenile, no further information is available at this time.
