Getting to know the South Baldwin Chamber’s Diplomat of the Month, Trace David, Co-owner of HealthSource in Foley

South Baldwin Chamber VP of Investor Relations Travis Valentine sat down with the Diplomat of the Month, Trace David, to learn more about the Chamber’s youngest Diplomat.

Travis:
We are so glad to have you here in South Baldwin. I understand you are one of those very intelligent people who have relocated to the area! Where did you grow up?

Trace: I grew up just north of Baton Rouge, Louisiana in a small town called Zachary.

Travis: Tell me about your journey to opening your business. What drove your desire to open a HealthSource branch?

Trace: I was introduced to chiropractic when I was in high school, so I know first-hand exactly how beneficial it is. After graduating high school, I knew I needed to learn, but at a much faster pace than college could provide. So, due to my interest being business and economics, I decided franchising would be the best option. My mother, Stephanie David, has always supported me and we work extremely well together. So, we decided to take on this new journey together after meeting the fantastic team at HealthSource’s corporate office.

Travis: What was your experience before opening your business?

Trace: I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and have been studying from some of the most brilliant businesspeople on the planet since I was 11 years old. I have dabbled in tiny “businesses” most of my high school career, just trying to learn along the way. After graduating high school, I tried to go to college, but like I said, I simply couldn’t learn what I wanted to know fast enough. So I resorted to experience and training programs that allowed me to learn at my own pace. Then, two weeks after I turned 18 I began training doctors and nurses on medical software around the country. I did that for two years and only stopped so I could open HealthSource of Foley.

Travis: You are new to the Diplomat program this year; what do you like most about being a Chamber Diplomat?

Trace: I love the abundance of knowledge. I have always had a thirst for knowledge in areas that I am interested in. The chamber offers so many resources and a tremendous reach across the community that literally every single event I am meeting new members that have so much to offer. As a diplomat, it gives me that insider edge that allows me to fully take advantage of this opportunity.

Travis: Do you have a favorite event to attend thus far?

Trace:
I love Grand Openings. I try to make it to every ribbon cutting I can for the simple reason that I can understand what that moment is like. No matter how big or small your company, how much money you have made before or spent to get to that point, the moment those scissors cut the ribbon the owner’s face will light up. It is a truly special moment that I love to be a part of.

Travis: What advice would you give someone who is thinking about becoming a Diplomat?

Trace: Do it. When I first heard what it was, I simply wanted to do it because it was an awesome title. I mean, “Diplomat?” Seriously, who wouldn’t want that title? But once I fully saw the potential, the reach you get, the resources you immediately acquire; I was hooked. The chamber is a nonprofit organization. Their sole responsibility is to help out everyone in the community. As a Diplomat, you have so much more potential to connect with everyone, because you work side-by-side with the chamber to better the community. If you become a Diplomat, use it to its fullest capabilities. There is so much knowledge and so many connections that can be made through this chamber. All you have to do is ask!

Travis: Do you have any plans for the future? Tell us your hopes and dreams.

Trace: At this moment I am 21. My goals are outrageous — literally absurd. I have no idea what the future has in store for me, but I have always been the type to completely obsess over anything I indulge in. Right now, it is providing the best possible chiropractic care this community has ever seen or been exposed to. Combining that with my responsibilities as a Diplomat, I truly believe that I will be able to have as much of an impact on this community as it has had on me.

Travis: When you’re not operating our local HealthSource or attending Chamber events what do you like to do for fun?

Trace: I have many other side projects, mostly business oriented, because that is my passion. You will never see me happier than when I am able to fully focus my energy on growing a business. Other than that, my wonderful girlfriend Miranda still lives in Baton Rouge, so I try to go back over there whenever possible.

Travis: Do you have any fun facts that you would like to share?

Trace: Actually, when I was 19, I was a huge fan of Scott Disick. So I saw the episode of him becoming Lord Scott Disick and thought to myself, “That would be the coolest thing ever!” So I spent the next morning searching on how I could do the same and low-and-behold, I stand before you all today as Lord Trace David.

Travis: Thank you, Trace, and congratulations on receiving the Diplomat of the Month Award. The South Baldwin Chamber is fortunate to have you in your Diplomat role. If you see Trace at the next Chamber event be sure to congratulate him and maybe ask how he became a Lord.
