James Mack Gibbs, 67, passed away Dec. 18, 2018 at his home in Summerdale, Alabama.

Mack was born Dec. 27, 1950 in Cleveland Alabama. He graduated from Gardendale High School in 1969.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1970-1974.

Mack graduated from Texas State University with a degree in agribusiness. He was a small business owner who reflected an entrepreneurial spirit with an emphasis on helping others achieve their financial goals. He dedicated his life to helping and serving others.

Mack was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, but above all else he was a lifelong follower of his redeemer, Jesus Christ. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Silverhill, Alabama and served as a lay pastor and prayer leader in his congregation.

Mack was preceded in death by his mother, Lucy Victoria Faust Gibbs; and his father, James Ellis Gibbs.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Hinsley Gibbs of Summerdale, Alabama; three sons, Jeremy Gibbs (Julia) of Coral Springs, Florida, James Brandon Gibbs (Jana) of Morristown, Tennessee, James Austin Gibbs of Summerdale, Alabama; sister, Jamie Lou Palmer of Morro Bay, California; brother, Turner Gibbs of Florence, Alabama and David Gibbs of San Antonio, Texas; and five grandchildren.

In celebration of his being called home by his heavenly Father, a service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Silverhill, Alabama.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 9:30 a.m., with the funeral service following at 10:30 a.m.

He will be laid to rest at Pine Rest Cemetery in Foley, Alabama at 3:30 p.m.
