John Daniel McDonald, age 76, a native of Latham, Alabama and a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020.

Mr. McDonald retired from the Baldwin County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of the FOP, Fairhope Avenue Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, he enjoyed bluegrass music, gospel music and was a fan of Fox News.

Mr. McDonald was predeceased by his first wife, Cheryl McDonald.

Survivors include his wife, Margene D. McDonald of Fairhope, Alabama; his children, James E. McDonald of Robertsdale, Alabama, Tommy (Mary) McDonald of Foley, Alabama, Brenda ( Robert) Holland of Robertsdale, Alabama, Lynn (Roy) Odom of Fairhope, Alabama, Donnie Douglas of Floral City, Florida, Kenny (Belinda) Douglas of Fairhope, Alabama, Melissa (Huey) Lester of Summerdale, Alabama, Alison (Ken) Downing of Lake City, Florida; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mona Lusk of Jacksonville, Florida, Eloise Cecka of Rockford, Illinois and Pam Schultz of Jacksonville, Florida; stepmother, Inez Mabrey of Jacksonville, Florida; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 3, 2020 at Fairhope Avenue Baptist Church at 11 a.m., with Rev. Jerry Brown officiating.

The family received friends on Monday from 9 a.m. until time of the service.

Interment followed at Jubilee Memorial Gardens.
