A new duo, Julie and Bret, on the island’s music scene entertained at DayBreak to the delight of the DayBreakers! The duo performed for over an hour singing songs from a variety of genres, and often the seniors sang along. Everyone had a great time! Shown here after the performance, from the left, are Bret Oldham, Julie McVey-Oldham, Jean Coker, Blan Blankenship, Suzi Jackson and Velma Tuttle.

DayBreak Senior Daycare provides a secure, loving environment where individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia are encouraged to participate in playing games, craft projects, singing, exercising and social interaction. The senior daycare provides participants’ fulltime caregiver with short term relief from the unrelenting demands of care giving by providing time out to grocery shop, attend support groups, or visit friends and family.

All DayBreak Senior Daycare participants must be pre-registered. The program is not designed to provide medical or counseling services but to provide support for the caregivers and their loved ones. It is offered every Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is located in Building B on the South Campus of Gulf Shores United Methodist Church. Cost is $20 per visit and includes a hot lunch. For information on DayBreak Senior Daycare please contact Marianne Hawkins at 251-752-1849 (jhhmsh@gulftel.com) or Amelia Fletcher at 251-968-2411 (amelia@gulfshoresumc.org).
