LOXLEY, Alabama — Loxley area churches want to provide all treats and no tricks this Halloween, hosting a Trunk or Treat beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31 at the Loxley Municipal Park.

“We want to provide a safe environment for the children of Loxley and the surrounding area,” said the Rev. Jim Batchelor, pastor of Loxley United Methodist Church. “We want this to be a positive memory that will last a lifetime.”

The event was hosted last year by the Loxley Church of God and this year several area churches have pooled together to provide the event free of charge, Batchelor said.

“This is not about any one church or promoting any one church over the other,” he said. “We just want this to be a great community event.”

As many as 80 cars will line the walking trail at the Municipal Park, filled with treats that will be handed out to participants.

The event will also include free hot dogs, a maze made out of hay bales, inflatables, laser tag, gaming trucks and other games for children, and live entertainment.

“We’re expecting about 2,000 participants,” Batchelor said, “and we’re hoping to make this a fun, annual event.”
