Nominations open for small business awards

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama -- The Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting nominations for the 2019 Small Business of the Year Award and the 2019 Emerging Small Business of the Year Award.

Nomination forms are available through the Chamber and must be accompanied with a separate document that briefly lists why you think this individual qualifies for this recognition.

Awards will be presented at the Chamber’s Annual Banquet on Jan. 16. For ticket information, contact the Chamber office at 251-947-2626.

It is acceptable for a business owner/manager to nominate your own business.

2019 Small Business of the Year Award

“The Central Baldwin Chamber will recognize and honor a local small business for their vital role in driving our business climate and economic growth in the Central Baldwin community,” said Chamber President/CEO Gail Quezada. “Any Central Baldwin Chamber member that meets the criteria listed below is eligible for nomination. Nominations will be evaluated by a panel of five leaders and volunteers.”

Criteria for the 2019 Small Business of the Year Award includes:

•Be in business for at least five years.

•A member of the Central Baldwin Chamber.

•Located in Central Baldwin.

•Have no more than 50 full time employees.

•Evidence of community involvement.

•Respected by peers as evidenced by good business practices.

•Privately owned, for profit entity.

•Shown growth in employment and sales.

2019 Emerging Small Business of the Year

The Emerging Small Business of the Year Award will be presented to an outstanding small business that has shown rapid growth and profitability in the first three years of operations and shows future growth and success, Quezada said.

Criteria for the award includes:

•Established in under five years.

•Located in Central Baldwin.

•A member of the Central Baldwin Chamber.

•Have no more than 50 full-time employees.

•Evidence of community involvement.

•Respected by peers as evidenced by good business practices.

•Privately owned, for-profit entity.

•Shown growth in employment and sales.
