Pensacola man facing drug trafficking charges

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — A Pensacola man is facing drug trafficking charges after more than 400 pounds of an illegal opioid was found during a routine traffic stop on Interstate 10 Tuesday.

Noor H. Yousef, 24, of Pensacola, is in jail without bond, charged with trafficking in illegal drugs.

According to a release issued Wednesday by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, Special Operations Units stopped a white cargo van traveling east bound on I-10 for a traffic violation at the 47-mile marker, which is three miles east of the Loxley exit, two miles west of the Baldwin Beach Express.

According to the release, deputies developed “probable cause” to search the vehicle and located approximately 405 pounds of suspected Kratom in various forms.

Kratom is a natural opioid that is listed as a banned substance in Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Tennessee, Vermont, Wisconsin and Louisiana.

Yousef was arrested on drug trafficking charges and transported to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Center, where he is being held without bond.

According to the release, the drugs originated in Louisiana and were destined for the Pensacola, Florida, area.
