Property search leads to four arrests in Seminole

SEMINOLE, Alabama — Methamphetamine, paraphernalia related to drug sales and other controlled substances were seized, and four people were arrested during a property search in the Seminole Community.

Gillis Quincy Hinote, 51, and Amber Darlene Watson, 30, whose address on jail records matches the Browns Landing Road address in Seminole where the Baldwin County Drug Task Force served a search warrant on Thursday, Dec. 6, were both charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hinote, who also has two warrants for child support violations, according to the release issued Friday, Dec. 7 by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Command Division, is in jail on a $25,500 bond, according to online jail records. Watson has been released on a $5,000 bond.

Stephanie Lynn Merchant, 35, whose address is listed as U.S. 90 in Seminole, was charged with using false identity to obstruct justice. Online jail records also show a writ of arrest for felony failure to appear and misdemeanor failure to appear. She is being held as a detainer for hold without bond.

Shamicka Louise Johnson, 38, also listed as a resident at Browns Landing Road address, is being held without bond as a fugitive from justice.

According to the release, the operation was the result of cooperation between law enforcement and members of the Seminole community.

“We initiated the investigation based on information provided by concerned citizens and community leaders,” according to the release. “Armed with this information investigators began using other investigative techniques to develop information on their own. This combined effort led to a search warrant for the property.

“Partnering with the citizens in our county is key to keeping Baldwin County safe. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank our community for their continued support.”
