ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — Robertsdale High School held a somewhat modified graduation ceremony conferring 270 degrees Tuesday, June 2 at J.D. Sellars Stadium.

Principal Joseph Sharp addressed students, along with Senior Class President Amanda Franklin and SGA President Brandon Wilson. Senior Xha Koriya Ceedeja Leona Marie Latham led the National Anthem with Presentation of Colors by the RHS Naval NJROTC.

Because of restrictions from the COVID-19 outbreak, a limited number of family members were allowed in the stadium and were not allowed on the field after the ceremony. The Golden Bear Band ensemble, which traditional performs during the ceremony, was also unable to perform on the field.

Seniors were spaced six feet apart and the ceremonial moving of the tassel and throwing of the mortar boards was done from their chairs because there was no space allowed for the traditional senior circle following the ceremony.

Sharp said RHS seniors earned a total of $6.63 in scholarships for 2020. He also recognized the RHS senior class Top 10, including salutatorian Isaac Godfrey and valedictorian Brandon Wilson. A total of 25 RHS students earned a 4.0 GPA or higher, Sharp said, recognizing honor students and those earning perfect attendance all four years at RHS.

The RHS NJROTC was also recognized along with those students going into military service. Four RHS graduates were not present for graduation ceremonies, Sharp said, because they were already in military basic training.
