FOLEY - It’s time to nominate someone special for the 2017 Walton M. Vines Free Enterprise Person of the Year. For more than 40 years the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce has celebrated the spirit of the Free Enterprise system. The Free Enterprise Person of the Year is one of South Baldwin’s most coveted awards. Nomination forms can be found in the latest issue of the SBCC Monthly Newsletter. Nominees must still be active in business affairs, have a good moral reputation, be active in civic/community affairs and be committed to helping others grow. Nominations must be received by August 14, 2017.

The winner will be honored during the 41st Free Enterprise Person of the Year Luncheon on September 22nd at the Foley Civic Center. The event is attended by more than 150 of the area’s top business leaders and community members. Chamber members can buy tickets online at www.mylocalchamber.net. The Luncheon features a full catered lunch and speeches from last year’s winner along with the newly honored Person of the Year.

The event has a rich history in Foley; some past winners of the award include: Tommy Lee, Boyd Little, Frances Holk-Jones, Gary Hellmich, Glen W. Moyer, R.C. Craft and Foley Mayor John Koniar. Winning the award can be a very special memory. “It was very humbling to me to be named the Free Enterprise Person of The Year knowing all the previous honorees who had worked so very hard to shape our area into what it is today: one of the best places to live in the country,” shared 2015 winner Boyd Little.
