SUMMERDALE – Summerdale is getting ready to kick off the holiday season with its sixth annual Christmas Concert: Home for the Holidays, taking place on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Baldwin EMC Building located at 19600 Highway 59 in Summerdale. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with showtime at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be available during intermission.

Concert-goers will be treated to the musical talents of Victor Andzulis, Megan Andzulis, Corey McKern, Chandra McKern, Sewell Griffith, Ella Maria Griffith, as well as a special appearance by Four-A-Change. Everyone is invited to the elegant evening of holiday music, featuring Christmas selections performed on the piano, flute, viola, violin, as well as vocal solos, duets, and group performances.

American Baritone Corey McKern is a former grant recipient from the Sullivan Foundation, as well as the first place winner of Opera Birmingham, Shreveport Opera, and Mobile Opera competitions. With a Master of Music degree from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Music Education from Mississippi State University, he has been praised by the New York Classical Review for his “crisp singing and articulation.”

Chandra McKern became Managing Director of Pensacola Opera in 2015, and has served as the Director of Education and Outreach at Nashville Opera. She had an extensive performing career prior to tackling arts administration, working with opera companies including Tulsa Opera, Opera Birmingham, Nevada Opera, Chicago Opera Theater and Central City Opera. Her degrees include a Bachelor of Music from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Music from Indiana University.

Griffith is a National Finalist with the Metropolitan Opera, and has sung with world famous conductors, symphonies, and operas. She is a multi-award winner and has went solo on numerous film soundtracks and international recordings. She will be accompanied this year by her daughter, Ella Maria.

Victor Andzulis is assistant professor of piano at the University of Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky, and maintains a private piano and strings studio. He has served with many universities during his career. He performs both as a soloist and collaborative pianist.

Megan Andzulis just took on the role of an adjunct Flute Instructor and Music Appreciation Professor at the University of Cumberlands in fall. She attended Pensacola Christian College where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance and Mater of Arts in Music Education.

Four-A-Change consists of four local musicians: Jennifer, Katrina, Tracey, and Jonathan. They perform at many events throughout the area, singing a variety of tunes including Broadway, contemporary pop, country, and holiday favorites.

For all those interested in hearing these masters of music ring in the holiday season, tickets are on sale at the Summerdale Library, Summerdale Municipal Complex, and the Summerdale branch of United Bank, as well as online at EventBrite. Adult tickets are $10, students $5. All proceeds support the Marjorie Younce Snook Public Library in Summerdale.
