BAY MINETTE, Alabama — A 17-year-old local resident was killed early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 31, south of Bay Minette.
According to a release issued Sunday by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the 17-year-old male, who is not being identified because of his age, was traveling south near Quinley Lane in a 2001 GMC Yukon when it left the roadway, overturned and crashed in the median.
He was not using a seat belt, according to the release, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
A second teenager, 18-year-old Destin Evans of Bay Minette, identified as a passenger in the vehicle, was transported to North Baldwin Infirmary, and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
