The Copper Kettle Tea Bar opens second location in downtown Foley

The Copper Kettle Tea Bar has become a staple in the community of Foley and beyond. Sue Adams and Robin Peters - the unbeatable sister duo - have managed to create a space that is as inviting as it is interesting. This unique attribute to downtown Foley has become such a sensation that the imaginations of the two founders needed more space to grow. When asked about the new space, Robin Peters said, “This is a chance for us to grow the business and meet community needs without becoming too large, or fast paced. We do not want to outgrow our vision.”

In lieu of this, the company has opened a second location just across Highway 59, but what is it? The new “tea cottage” is the Copper Kettle’s outlet for its larger private events. This in no way is a replacement for the charming Hobbit house that all have come to know and love. This new space will allow for the owners to create a more focused event space, while the original tea house will remain open for business as usual.

The new cozy Copper Kettle Cottage is in the historic district at 202 Myrtle Street in downtown Foley and is within walking distance to several antique stores, art boutiques, and parks. The Cottage seats up to 35 people and has easy handicapped accommodations. The Copper Kettle Cottage is full of local touches such as custom-built tables by JBS Steelcraft, signs designed by local artists, milk bottle vases from a dairy farm in Foley, and assorted pieces of furniture from local Kit and Kaboodle as well as a few pieces that came out of their first tearoom in 2005.

The cottage also features one smaller private room for meetings and private tea parties. The new space is perfect for more intimate gatherings, afternoon teas, or Sue’s Fondue and crepes. The Cottage will also be available to rent for local pop ups, seminars and meetings. One of the first pop ups will feature Gulf Coast Gluten Free desserts.

Adams and Peters plan to kick off the first open evening April 23 with a Cheese/Chocolate fondue along with the beautiful violinist Katy Herndon. Reservations will still be required and the contact information for the Tea Bar has not changed.

This new space will be designated for events and parties, but if you need your tea fix, head over to the original Copper Kettle Tea Bar located in Heritage Park across from the train station for all the same quirky charm and southern relaxation that the tea house has always provided.
