The Emerald Coast Golf Tour heads to Kiva Dunes

Pro-Am set for Gulf Shores March 6-8

The Emerald Coast Golf Tour kicks off its 2019 season at beautiful Kiva Dunes GC in Gulf Shores March 6-8. The Emerald Coast Tour is a developmental program for players trying to earn their PGA tour card.

The initial event features a 54-hole tournament which starts on Wednesday for the professionals, followed by a kickoff party that night at Kiva’s Clubhouse for all tournament players. A one day Pro-Am gets underway at 12:30 p.m.on Thursday, teaming three amateurs with one PGA star of the future. A postgame party takes place after the Pro-Am at the Hideaway Sports Bar.

The tour hosts a free junior clinic on the Kiva Dunes driving range on Tuesday, March 5, from 4:15-5:15 p.m. for all kids interested in learning more about the game. The clinic features instruction conducted by PGA Professional Rea Schuessler and the Emerald Coast Tour professionals.

Over 25 PGA tour winners play on the ECT tour. Notable alumni players include Boo Weekley; Joe Durant; Heath Slocum; Craig Perks; Patton Kizzire; Jerry Kelly; George McNeil; and two-time Masters Champion Bubba Watson. Last year’s winner Hunter Stewart is expected to defend his title.

If you’re interested in playing in the Pro-Am or learning more about their organization, contact the Kiva Dunes pro shop at 251-540-7000 or Geno Celano with the Emerald Coast Golf Tour at 850-217-3412. Sponsors and volunteers are needed for the event.

Attention golfers, If you are putting together a large charity golf tournament, have some interesting golf stories to share, are a PGA professional that’s new to the area, or was recently promoted, I want to hear from you. Drop me a line at golftodaynews@yahoo.com.
