ROBERTSDALE — Blakeley Louise Walker was named Little Miss Honeybee and Rachel McCoy earned the title of Young Miss Honeybee when the Honeybee pageant held its ninth crowning Friday night, Oct. 8 at the PZK Hall in Robertsdale.

This year Miss Alabama Lauren Bradford emceed the pageant. She hosted a special crowning for each contestant.  With the help of all these girls, the pageant raised over 20,000 canned goods, doubling last year’s total. The canned goods will be used to stock most of Baldwin County’s school pantries. A total of 21 contestants competed and every contestant makes food contributions to their schools.

“It’s not every day a little girl can say she was crowned by Miss Alabama,” said event Chair Stephanie Kroll. “This is a team effort. We are very grateful for the City of Robertsdale’s sponsorship to our program. With their help our pageant also gives local scholarships to seniors. Anthony’s Bridal has just joined forces with us to help next year make our pageant bigger.”

All the queens and court from this year and last year will be at the Honeybee Festival on Nov. 6.

“You can find them throughout the county donating their time to charity, riding in parades, sitting in on council meetings, maybe even hosting a birthday party,” Kroll said. “Wherever a need Honeybee Queens will make it happen.”
