Andrew (Andy) Summerlin, Jr. born Jan. 27, 1951, in Spanish Fort, Alabama, passed away Dec. 9, 2023, in Virginia Beach Virginia, with his wife by his side. Andy served 20 years in the Navy Submarine force, Groton Connecticut, retired in Sept. 1989. He spent his second career with Service Master, finally retiring Feb. 2014. Andy enjoyed wood carving as a hobby, he loved to watch Alabama football and Dallas Cowboys. Andy is survived by his wife of 28 years, Denise Summerlin, son, Lee Brandon (Kim) Summerlin, Connecticut, daughters, Chantelle (Pete) Huffman Virginia, Kristen (Anthony) Friess, Michigan. His mother Grace Nelson, Fairhope, sisters, Jeanne Watton, Fairhope, Judy (Norman), Green Phinney, Daphne, Gail Summerlin, Texas, brother, Larry (Deborah) Summerlin, Tennessee, half-brother, Timothy (Shannon) Nelson, Florida. Andy had six grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, also great grand nieces, and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his father Andrew L Summerlin Sr. and his Stepfather Morris L Nelson. Andy donated his body to science.
