Art in the Park 2024: A Mother's Day tradition in Baldwin County for 52 years

Posted

For 52 years, Art in the Park has been a Mother's Day tradition in Baldwin County. The event continues to grow and evolve, and this year is no different.

Organizers of the annual Art in the Park event have added a full schedule of live music to this year's event making it even more fun. Along with the live entertainment, this year's event has attracted more artists and vendors from as far away as Louisiana, North Carolina and New Jersey.

Art in the Park is more than just an arts and crafts festival, it is also a competitive juried fine art show. Over 90 artists will showcase their unique works to consumers and judges alike. Top artists from across the region participate annually. Works range from pen and ink, watercolor, pottery, stained glass, wood and jewelry.

The free weekend event takes place in the heart of Foley giving guests the opportunity to take in everything the city has to offer. Stroll through the park and enjoy the festival and then explore the shops and restaurants located within walking distance of Heritage Park.

The event isn't only for adults. The littlest members of the family can enjoy the free, hands-on children's area offering a variety of fun activities. Another highlight is the local children's art exhibit featuring work from students in elementary to high school. The artwork for next year's poster is chosen from this exhibit. Make your predictions on whose art you will see on next year's poster.

This year's poster artwork was created by Jaelynn Nelson, a Foley sixth grader. Her paper mosaic rendition of turtles swimming in blue waters won the hearts of the Art in the Park committee. Nelson was awarded the Linda Koniar Young Emerging Artist Award for 2024. Before you leave the festival, make sure to stop by and check out the event merchandise with Nelson's artwork.
