ROBERTSDALE, Alabama -- On June 1, four students were presented with over $6,200 in scholarships as part of the Chamber’s 2019-2020 Junior Executive Youth Leadership Program. Scholarships are awarded to seniors on a point-based system for students that meet the program criteria. Funds for the scholarships are raised by the Chamber during the year.
This year’s scholarship recipients were Anna Rose Racine, Sarah Shipp and Ellie McCully from Robertsdale High School and Missy Campbell from Central Christian School, who received the Huey Mack Sr. Scholarship. The scholarship is donated to the Chamber by the Mack family each year in honor of Huey Mack, one of the Chamber’s founding fathers.
2020 Chamber scholarship recipients are:
Anna Rose Racine, daughter of Jim and Renee Racine of Rosinton, ranked highest in the point program, is attending Coastal Alabama Community College and majoring in radiologic science.
Sarah Shipp, daughter of Jason and Jennifer Shipp of Robertsdale, is attending the University of Alabama and majoring in financial planning.

Ellie McCully, daughter of Leland and Amy McCully of Silverhill, is attending the University of South Alabama and majoring in healthcare management.
Missy Campbell, daughter of Russell and Barbara Campbell of Robertsdale, is attending Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) and majoring in biomedical engineering.

Although the program has evolved over the years to address changes in the community, the mission remains the same – to create confident, leadership-oriented students who can achieve personal success. The Junior Executive Program provides juniors and seniors in the Central Baldwin area with opportunities to enhance their leadership skills through hands on work experience with a non-profit, leadership classes and community involvement.
Every spring, Education Committee members, who serve on a volunteer basis, and Chamber staff reach out the local high schools to recruit current sophomores interested in the program. The recruitment process takes place with the support of the schools’ counselors. Students from the Central Baldwin area including Robertsdale High School, Central Christian School, and home school students are offered the opportunity to apply.
Participating students enter the program the summer following their sophomore year and follow the program through their senior year. Once in the program, students meet and interact with local business and community leaders as well as the Chamber Board of Directors and staff. Students participate in a wide range of Chamber events such as Dave Ramsey Leadership Classes, City and Town Hall meetings, and an annual trip to the State Capitol for a tour and lunch with local elected officials and members of the Baldwin County delegation.
