ROBERTSDALE — “R-R-R-D-A!, A-A-A-L-E! Robertsdale! Robertsdale! Go, Bears!

It is likely that those sounds and more could be heard from miles around on Thursday, Aug. 22 as fans of the Robertsdale High School Golden Bear football team filled Honeybee Park for a community pep rally, ushering in Kyle Stanford’s first season as Golden Bear head coach.

The cheers were not only led by cheerleaders from RHS, Central Baldwin Middle School and youth cheerleaders from Robertsdale and Loxley, but also by “Mr. Go Bear!” himself, Robertsdale City Council member and longtime RHS administrator Paul Hollingsworth.

Stanford also took to the stage, set up by the local Coca Cola Distributing Company, welcoming guests and thanking all those who helped put the event together.

“I want to thank the city for allowing us to use the facility and thank all of those who worked hard to put this event together,” Stanford said. “Our hashtag all year has been #StrengthinUnity, and I want to commend the Bears Booster Club for all of their hard work, and for welcoming me and helping me get ready for this season.”

Players from all levels were also on hand, along with members of the Golden Bear Marching Bands from Robertsdale High School and Central Baldwin Middle School.

Members of the Bears Booster Club sold pizza, drinks, snacks and shaved ice and a table was set up to sign up new members.

The Golden Bears will kick off the 2019 season tonight against the Mary G. Montgomery Vikings at home at J.D. Sellars Stadium in Robertsdale. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
