City of Robertsdale hosts Arbor Day tree giveaway

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama -- More than 100 residents turned Saturday, Feb. 27 for the City of Robertsdale Park, Street and Tree Committee tree giveaway in celebration of Arbor Day at Honeybee Park.

This year’s giveaway was socially distanced and those attending were asked to wear a mask in accordance with CDC guidelines. This year 200 trees of each variety were given away in hopes of replenishing those lost from Hurricane Sally.

Varieties included river birch, catalpa, paw paw, red bud, silky dogwood, persimmon, green ash, ginkgo biloba, wax myrtle, Laurel oak, Northern red oak and live oak.

Drawings were held to giveaway a royal velvet and a fragrant pink camellia. Winners were Nicole Rivera and W.C. Doxey.
