County narrows down candidates for open job positions

Interviews for county administrator, HR and EMA directors begin next week

At a special called work session in Bay Minette Tuesday afternoon, the Baldwin County Commission narrowed down the candidates it wished to interview for the positions of county administrator, county personnel director and county EMA director.

The commission chose three candidates to interview for the county administrator position:

- Wayne Dyess, who has served as the City of Fairhope’s Planning Director since 2017. Prior to that, Dyess was Director of Planning and Development Services for Walton County Florida from 2011 to 2017 and was Planning Director for Baldwin County from 2000 until 2010.

- Ashley Jones Davis, who has served as Executive Director of the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce since 2012.

- Matthew Brown, who has served as the Baldwin County Highway Department’s Pre-Construction Manager since 2012. Brown was formerly a member of the Alabama State Board of Education for District 1, appointed by former Gov. Robert Bentley.

For the EMA Director position, the county has chosen to interview four applicants, who include:

- Interim Baldwin County EMA Director Jessie Peacock, who has served in an interim capacity since Feb. 2018. Prior to being appointed interim director, Peacock was the Assistant EMA Director.

- Scott Wallace, who has served as Baldwin County EMA’s Training and Shelter Coordinator since 2010.

- Clanton resident Benjamin Abbott, who has served as a federal coordinating officer for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) since 2018.

- Jacksonville resident Zachary Hood, who has worked as a course manager for FEMA contractor Leidos since 2018.

For the Personnel Director position, the county commissioners chose to interview five candidates, including:

- Interim Personnel Director Deidra Hanak, who became interim director in Nov. 2018. Hank served as Assistant Personnel Director from 2012 until Nov. 2018.

- Pandora Heathcoe, who served as the City of Fairhope’s Human Resource Manager from 2011 to 2018.

- Jacqueline Whitfield, who has worked for Kimberly Clark as a human resource specialist since June 2014.

- Pamalon Rollins, who has served as Trenholm State Community College’s Director of Human Resources since Nov. 2004.

- Christy Ivey, who has served as Personnel Generalist for the University of Alabama at Birmingham since Jan. 2018.

The commission will begin interviews for the positions starting Feb. 26.
