Doris Ann McIntyre (Sasser) Haywood, 81, died on March 24, 2018 at Hospice & Palliative Care Center, Burlington, North Carolina.

Ms. Haywood was born Nov. 19, 1936 in Montgomery County, North Carolina, the daughter of Charlie Cohen and Carrie Mae Jarrell McIntyre.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by spouses, Jesse Clarence Sasser Jr. and Roy Everette Haywood Sr.; and two brothers, Joseph William "Jake" McIntyre and Ted McIntyre.

She is survived by one daughter, Julie Christine Haywood Cozort (Stuart III) of Elon, North Carolina; two stepsons, Roy Everette Haywood Jr. (Karen) of Fairhope and Joseph Lee "Joey" Haywood (Karen) of Asheboro, North Carolina; one sister, Minnie Lee McIntyre Poole of Troy, North Carolina, two brothers, Jack McIntyre (Jo) of Cana, Virginia and Henry "Hank" McIntyre (Quida) of Bonifay, Florida; one grandchild, Stuart Lee "Buck" Cozort IV (Danielle), of Burlington, North Carolina; and five step-grandchildren, Adam Everette Haywood (Jordan) of Boston, Massachusetts, Joseph Clay Haywood (Kendi) of Hampstead, North Carolina, Nathan Stanford Haywood (fiancee, Stephanie) of Charlottesville, Virginia, Caleb Smith Haywood of Boone, North Carolina, Kathryn Kyndall Haywood (fiance, Jourdan Beaumont) of Fairhope; two step-great-grandchildren, Joseph Clay Haywood Jr. and George Everette Haywood; and a multitude of cousins and friends.

She was a member of Troy Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Battle of Alamance chapter.

Her hobbies included sewing, flower gardening and genealogy research.

In addition to embracing Christianity at an early age, Doris' greatest treasures were the love, affection and support of her ever-expanding circle of family members and friends.

To avoid conflicting with significant events of her grandchildren, Doris requested her service be postponed. The memorial service will be held May 12, 2018, at 11, Troy Presbyterian Church, 202 E Main St., Troy, NC.
