ELBERTA - Whether you missed your chance to enjoy the Elberta German Sausage Festival earlier this year or if you attended and are counting down until the next one, you don’t have much longer to wait. The second Elberta German Sausage Festival of 2021 is happening Saturday, Oct. 30 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Elberta Town Park (intersection of County Road 83 and Highway 98), and it promises to be bigger and better than ever.
“It was a record-breaking crowd!” the Elberta Volunteer Fire Department posted on Facebook after the Saturday, March 27 event. “This event would not be possible without the support of our community, guests from surrounding areas, and of course our vendors.”
Admission into the festival is free. The Elberta German Sausage Festival takes place the last Saturdays of March and October each year, and is a rain or shine event. Handicap parking is reserved around the Police Department and Town Hall, directly across the street from the town park.
Attendees can expect to enjoy continuous entertainment for adults and children, live music, multiple arts and crafts booths, and, festival-goers’ favorite, Elberta’s famous “One With Two Without” German sausage & sauerkraut. Those 21 and older can grab a cold drink from the beer tent to enjoy with a $5 Elberta German sausage dog (cash, credit and checks accepted). Other food items available for purchase include German-style filled cabbage, potato salad, goulash, red beans & rice, hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ sandwiches, ice cream, popcorn and peanuts. You’ll find baked goods and vendors set up around the park, as well as carnival rides, polka, country, contemporary and German music.
All proceeds from the festival benefit the Elberta Volunteer Fire Department. The department puts on the festival twice a year to raise funds for improvements to the department as well as the town. Local non-profit organizations benefit from the festival through proceeds from booth sales and parking lot fees. An estimated 6,000 pounds of German sausage are sold at each festival, with the March 2021 event selling out during the afternoon.
