Girl Scouts learn to be their own kind of beautiful

Posted

Alabama Free Clinic and the Eastern Shore Medical Alliance presented the 1st Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful at Forland Family Market in Foley earlier this month.

More than 20 Baldwin County girls, in grades 3- 5, including 11 from Girl Scout Troop 8306 in Bay Minette, attended. The girls spent the day learning how to live a healthy lifestyle along with being kind to others, themselves and their community.

The girls were taught how to prepare nutritious snacks, had an exercise activity by Fit by Jessica, had a scavenger hunt through the Forland Family Market and Coastal Alabama Farmers and Fishermen’s Market as well as prepared potted plants under the instruction of Master Gardener Joy Zeanah. The girls made one to take home and one to present to patients at the Alabama Free Clinic.

The girls also took the Pledge of Kindness, which reads: “I pledge to myself on this very day to try and be kind in every way. To every person big or small, I will help them if they fall. When I love myself and others, too, that is the best that I can do.”
