Gulf Coast Media to hold 2nd-annual football Media Day

Posted

The inaugural event was recently awarded for its video coverage, and now Gulf Coast Media's football Media Day will return to the Orange Beach Event Center Thursday, July 27.

Public and private high school football programs from around Baldwin County will be featured in their own time slot starting at 10 a.m. with the head coach and two players sitting for an interview with GCM Sports Editor Cole McNanna.

Interviews will be streamed live on Gulf Coast Media's Facebook page, and those wanting to see a school in person can come to the event in Orange Beach next to The Wharf. There is no admission or subscription necessary to attend or watch.

"We are so excited to be heading back to Orange Beach to help kick off the football season around Baldwin County. After we had so much fun last year, we look forward to the same great content with some fun additions," McNanna said. "As the weather gets warmer, we're only getting closer so be sure you're following our social media channels for updates along the way as well as the final schedule."

Interviews and season previews will then be included in GCM's annual Baldwin County Fall Sports Preview, which this year will be expanded into a glossy magazine featuring football, cross country and volleyball.

McNanna's sports coverage won several awards at the Alabama Press Association's news contest for work in 2022, including best sports photo and best use of social media, as well as recognitions for use of video — of his interview with the Elberta High School Warriors during last year's Media Day — and overall sports coverage.
