Gulf Shores seeks resident input on Coastal Gateway Park

The city of Gulf Shores is seeking residents’ input on the preliminary concept for the Coastal Gateway Community Park.

In June, the city held a public input meeting to discuss the project and gather input from residents on the amenities they would like to see included in the proposed park located on Coastal Gateway Boulevard (formerly County Road 8) directly between Crimson Ridge and Craft Farms North subdivision.

The input collected was used to develop a preliminary concept that includes a lake with walking trail, outdoor event space, outdoor pool, splash pad, open space, playground, recreation center, skate park, dog park, basketball court, future fire station, site for a potential elementary school and a 40-foot natural buffer separating the park from neighboring residential developments.

The city is asking residents to review the concept and give feedback as they enter the next stage of the planning process. A timeline for construction will be set when a budget is created after all resident input has been analyzed. Budgets are expected to be completed by early fall.
