Harold A. Wells

Harold A. Wells, age 92, went to be with his wife Clareen on Saturday morning, Aug. 14 at his home.

Harold was a native of Cannon Falls, Minn. and resident of Rosinton, Harold and Clareen were married Feb. 7, 1953. Harold served in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Warrant Officer and retired after 32 years. He retired in Pensacola, Fla., and after retiring from the private helicopter industry, he and Clareen moved to Rosinton in 1984.They purchased property from Herbert and Ruth Pittman, built their home, and started raising cattle.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Silverhill. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and an active member of the Baldwin County Cattlemen’s Association. He was presented the Pioneer Cattleman Award in 2002 and selected as Father of the Year by the Baldwin County Cattlewomen in 2002. He and Clareen were members of the YMCA in Foley where they had many friends. He loved Atlanta Braves Baseball and Alabama Football. Harold also loved his sweets. If you wanted to make him happy, you brought him chocolate, doughnuts, or cookies.

Harold is preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Josephine Nelson Wells, his father Harold Vincent Wells, his sister Patricia Gusa and wife Clareen J. Wells of 67 years, and close family friends Herbert and Ruth Pittman, who were Harold and Clareen's neighbors and traveling companions for many years.

He is survived by two daughters Apryll Stalcup, Merrily Flores (Ysidro); son, Joel Wells (Heather), seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A funeral service was held Wednesday, Aug. 25 at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Silverhill, with burial following at Pittman Cemetery, Robertsdale.
