Jimmie Edmond Calloway, age 78, a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019, at The William F. Green Veterans Home in Bay Minette.

He was born Aug. 30, 1940 in Tampa, Florida. He was a graduate of Fairhope High School, class of 1959. Jim was captain of the football team and was class favorite.

He served in the U.S.A.F. and earned the commendation medal, along with many other medals and was a Vietnam veteran.

He was an avid marksman, a member of MENSA, and was involved with the Fairhope Girls Softball League in the 1970s and 1980s.

He was preceded in death by his parents, A.T. and Louise Calloway; two sons, Jay Calloway and David Calloway; and one brother, Lt. Hardy Calloway.

Jim is survived by daughters, Alison Calloway and Tiffany Cook (Dustin), both of Fairhope; grandchildren, Macray, Kathryn, Camden, Chavon, Nathan (Delorean) and Levi; great-grandchildren, William, Davi and Dylin; mother of his children, Edith Calloway of Fairhope; brothers, Stony Calloway (Joan) of Pace, Florida and Dave Calloway (Betty) of Maryville, Tennessee; sister, Betty Calloway (Jack) of Cantonment, Florida; sister-in-law, Dee Morris Calloway of Pace, Florida; cousins, including E.R. Calloway of Arlington, Washington; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 23, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview, Fairhope.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.

Interment will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort.
