Man charged in ‘road rage’ incident at Robertsdale Walmart

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — A Loxley man is facing felony charges after police say he shot at an occupied vehicle in the Robertsdale Walmart parking lot Tuesday afternoon.

According to a release on the Robertsdale Police Department’s Facebook page, 29-year-old Robert Lucas Hartman has been charged with felony shooting into an occupied vehicle after officers responded to a call at around 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, regarding a road rage incident near the east end of the Walmart parking lot.

During the incident, words were exchanged between the drivers of two vehicles. As one vehicle drove off, according to the release, the driver of the other vehicle fired a shot at the vehicle, striking its rear bumper.

After an investigation of the incident, Hartman turned himself in to Robertsdale Police and was arrested after admitting to shooting his weapon at the victim’s vehicle, according to the release.

Evidence was collected at the scene and the weapon has been recovered.

According to jail records, Hartman was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Facility at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday. He was released at 10:28 a.m. as a detainer for hold with the Robertsdale Police Department.
