April 27, 1931- July 10, 2020
Marc Miller, beloved husband, father and “Big Daddy” to his grandchildren, died peacefully at home on July 10th. Born in Selma, Marc graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery and attended the University of Alabama, where he was a member of Zeta Beta Tau fraternity. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a major in finance and minor in accounting. Marc was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the US Army. He owned and operated a commercial and illustrative photography business in Atlanta, Georgia where he met his wife Ann and started his family. In 1965, they moved to Selma to run a chain of family owned clothing stores, M&F Stores Corporation, which has been operating in Baldwin County since 1927. In his travels, Marc discovered and fell in love with Fairhope and was thrilled to open M & F Casuals in 1973. Marc and Ann moved to Point Clear, AL in 1990. Marc was a member of the Point Clear Rotary Club, a founder and past president of the Downtown Fairhope Business Association, and served on the Fairhope Parking Authority for many years.
Upon retiring, Marc became a counselor for the Baldwin County SCORE Chapter (Service Core of Retired Executives). Marc found a passion for mentoring and helping young entrepreneurs maneuver through their ideas to develop sound business plans. He served as Vice Chair and Chair of the Baldwin county chapter before becoming District Manager for Alabama and travelling nationwide representing the state. Marc will always be remembered for his quick wit, sharp tongue, and his famous bar-b-que sauce. His lifelong passion for photography was best shown in his exhibit at the Eastern Shore Art Center entitled the “Faces of China”.
Marc is predeceased by his twin brother, Alon, and his parents Samelia (Isaacson) and Norman Miller. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ann (Yates), his daughters Leslie Sax of Nashville, Carol (Matt) Eberlein and Barbara Levitt, both of Fairhope. 8 grandchildren: Ben (Janine) Sax, Adam (Sarah) Sax, Rachel Sax, Maring Eberlein, Sam Eberlein, Miller Eberlein, Sarah Levitt, Nate Levitt, and 2 great grandchildren: Zoe and Margot Sax.
The family would like to give special thanks for the excellent care Marc received in his final days from Corey Sledge, as well as Becky Timms and the wonderful team from Community Hospice.
There will be a private memorial service. In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice.
