With great sadness, the family of Marilyn Ball Tomb, age 84, announces her passing on Nov. 1, 2019 at Cottagewood in Rochester, Minnesota.

The devastating effects of dementia took Marilyn from us in her final years. Despite this immense loss, our beautiful memories of Marilyn, known for her kindness, compassion and integrity, live on.

Marilyn was born on Aug. 19, 1935 in Waymart, Pennsylvania to Gerald and Helen Ball. Marilyn met Ken Tomb in Philadelphia in 1957, and they were married on Aug. 23, 1958.

Marilyn worked as a bookkeeper but chose to stay home after their children were born. After they were in school, she worked part time as a field aide for the Girl Scouts of Greater Philadelphia and as a sales clerk at Wanamaker's in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania.

After the family moved to Coon Rapids, Minnesota in the late '70s, Marilyn returned to the field of bookkeeping until retirement in 1997. Ken and Marilyn moved to Daphne, Alabama after Marilyn's retirement. In her retirement, Marilyn was known in Baldwin County for her stained glass art.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Ken; her children, Tammy Forslund Danielson (Jeff), Lori Tomb Paul (Dave) and Robert Tomb (Tracy); seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Geraldine (Paul) Zintel; as well as nephews and nieces.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Dane Forslund.

Marilyn leaves behind countless friends and numerous Alanon groups who all were blessed by her gentle kindness and honesty.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019 at Anoka UCC Church, 1923 3rd Ave., Anoka, MN.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Marilyn's honor be sent to Cottagewood Senior Communities, 4220 55th St. NW, Rochester, MN 55901, or Heartland Hospice, 821 3rd Ave SE #15, Rochester, MN 55904.
