Michael Ray Ladd, Sr., 68, a resident of Fairhope passed away on Thursday, Aug. 19.

Michael, affectionately nicknamed Sandy, was born to the late Deacon F.A. and Annie Hilmer (Armstrong) Ladd on Sept. 8, 1952. He was the thirteenth of 15 children.

Michael attended Mattie T. Blount High School class of 1971, where he lettered in basketball, track and field. He was a member of the Apostolic Church of God, where he made Jesus Christ the Lord of his life and served as lead drummer for several years. He later joined Good Samaritan Sanctuary where he served as a faithful Deacon, drummer, Sunday school teacher, and in whatever capacity the church needed at the time. His gift of service extended to Bible Way Holiness Church where he filled in as prayer leader and drummer during their morning service. He was a pillar of the community.

He leaves, to continue his legacy, a faithful, loving, and devoted wife of 32 years, Quncie Marie (Daughtry) Ladd, 10 children: Cherinita Ladd-Reese, Youkishala Ladd-Martin, Michael Ray Ladd Jr., Terrance Jevaune Ladd, Willie James Seals, Darius D’Andre Ladd, Ladarynal Desmoine Ladd, Emmanuel Icola Seals, Damienne Darnell Ladd, and LeQuinton Tavarus Ladd. His memory is also cherished by 27 grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend.

The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 28, at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Graveside services will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope at 3 p.m.
