First-year teams from Orange Beach and Baldwin County High Schools made their mark at the trap and skeet shooting state championship meet in Talladega last weekend.
The Makos took the top spot in all three disciplines, skeet, trap and sporting clay, and the Tigers had a runner-up finisher in the trap and sporting clays events.
Rivers Looney took the top spot in the intermediate entry division in both skeet and sporting clays. He was joined in receiving a gold medal by Connor Parker and Mac Scarborough who each won trap divisions.
For Baldwin County, Trey Crosby finished in second place of the sporting clays event in the senior/junior varsity division after he took down Colbe Eidson from Guntersville in shoot-off. Similarly, Corbin Crysell won second place in the trap from the intermediate entry division. Crosby and Crysell were only two of the Tigers’ several top-10 finishes across all three disciplines.
The Skeet & Trap Championship took place at Red Eagle Skeet & Trap Club in Childersburg and the Sporting Clays Championship was held at Selwood Farm in Alpine.
