Orange Beach encourages observance of Halloween Oct. 30

The city of Orange Beach is encouraging residents to observe Halloween a day early. Starting this year, Orange Beach will celebrate Halloween on the Saturday before Oct. 31 unless it falls on a Saturday.

“The reason for this is it is easier for us to mobilize extra police officers and EMS personnel. We are going to have a bunch of kids here this year. We need to know and be able to predict what we need and that is why we have asked that it be the Saturday before Halloween,” Kennon said.

This year Halloween falls on a school night making a late night for little monsters and ghouls. Kennon said he didn’t know why anyone would have Halloween on a Sunday night or a school night.

Trick-or-treaters will have the option to visit Orange Beach neighborhoods or head to The Wharf for Hall-O-Wharf from 6-9 p.m. There will be trick-or-treating at the shops on Main Street and trunk-or-treat, sponsored by Oasis Church, hayrides, a costume contest and a fireworks display at 8:45 p.m.
