Owen Sherman Posey died in Baldwin County on Monday, Aug. 2.

Mr. Posey was born in Winston County, Ala. but was a long-time resident of Mobile and Lillian. Owen Posey served in the Army Air Force during World War II. Following the war, he received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) and enjoyed a long career as a design engineer and consultant. Owen taught Sunday school classes and served as a deacon in several Baptist congregations during his life.

He is survived by his daughters, Karen P. Harp and her husband J. Charles Harp; and Melissa Posey Furman and her husband John P. Furman; as well as his brothers, Murlen Posey and his wife Betty; and, Donald Posey and his wife Barbara; and several nieces and nephews.

Owen was predeceased in death by his wife of 50 years, Doris, and his infant son; his second wife, Wynema; his sisters, Essie Mae Noles and Rachel League; his parents, Simuen H. “Bud” Posey and Docie L. Posey. A private funeral and interment were held on Aug. 12, 2021, at Winston County Memorial Cemetery in Haleyville, Alabama.
