The physicians and staff of Baldwin Bone & Joint are pleased to announce the association of Dr. Keith Spain, fellowship-trained primary care sports medicine specialist, to its orthopaedic team. He has practiced in both Mobile and Baldwin counties as a sports medicine specialist since 2015.

Spain, a fellowship-trained non-surgical and regenerative sports medicine specialist, will join the Baldwin Bone & Joint group in Jan. 2024, allowing the practice to become the most experienced team of fellowship-trained sports medicine specialists in the region.

“I have a passion for partnering with patients to work toward their goals of getting back to an active lifestyle and the activities they enjoy,” Spain said. “I look forward to working alongside the most experienced team of fellowship-trained sports medicine specialists in our region and to now also be available to patients in Baldwin County five days a week.”

A native of Mobile, Spain is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans and attended the University of South Alabama Medical School in Mobile. He completed his family medicine residency at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Fla. Following residency, he practiced emergency medicine before completing a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of South Florida-Morton Plant Mease in Clearwater, Fla. Through his training and clinical practices, he has served as a team physician for several high schools, colleges, community events, and professional sports teams. He currently serves as team physician for Foley High School.

Spain is board certified in Family Medicine and holds a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine. His specialty is the non-surgical treatment of orthopaedic injuries and medical conditions in athletes of all ages and abilities. He has a particular interest in diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound, minimally invasive procedures, and regenerative medicine. Spain is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and the current President of the Baldwin County Medical Society.

Spain has additional specialty training in minimally invasive and ultrasound-guided procedures, orthobiological regenerative medicine, and the innovative Tenex Health procedure for chronic tendinopathy. Taking a non-surgical approach, Spain helps patients dealing with everything from arthritis, tendinitis, and fractures, to sports related concussion and other medical and musculoskeletal ailments.

Spain is available to see patients at the Bone & Joint’s Daphne and Foley office locations beginning January of 2024. Appointments may be scheduled at (251) 625-2663 and baldwinboneandjoint.com.
