Summerdale passes golf cart ordinance

SUMMERDALE - The Town of Summerdale passed a golf cart ordinance during a recent council meeting. The ordinance includes all registered utility vehicles.

“This allows utility vehicles to ride on the streets of Summerdale,” said Mayor David Wilson. “People can ride on all of our streets that are within our town limits except for Highway 59, the Beach Express, County Road 36, and County Road 32.”

There is a $25 registration fee for those who are interested in driving a utility vehicle through town. Those who would like to register their vehicle can call the Summerdale Police Department at 251-947-4010 to schedule an appointment for an officer to visit their home and inspect the vehicle. To register, vehicles must have working equipment including headlights, taillights, turn signals, brake lights, and horn. Vehicles also must have a VIN number.

Once the inspection is passed, the owner will receive a permit from the Summerdale PD. Call Town Hall at 251-989-6202 for more information.
