The long-awaited event of the season

FOLEY - The Copper Kettle’s 6th Annual Hobbit Tea was a longer journey then expected, as the small local business battled hurricane winds and delivered food in the shadow of the plague. But the isolation of 2020 and delayed festivities ended with the arrival of weary travelers to the Shire in May 2021, when the Kettle opened its rounded door and lit the campfires, making it a welcome sight for guests.

Taking inspiration from Tolkien’s intricate universe of Middle Earth, this event is known for its whimsical fantasy like atmosphere and festive foods. As expected, guests saw some beloved characters at the event, and were entertained by two of our favorite elves from any realm, Katy Herndon and Melody Duncan. They fiddled and sang till the whole crowd was as rambunctious as hungry dwarves. Even Smaug the dragon appeared from her Lonely Mountain home and was on her best behavior, only mildly scorching guests as she exclaimed her love of tea as being almost as much as her love of gold. The food served was worthy of any Hobbit feast, and rivers of delectable teas from all over Middle Earth and beyond kept flowing.

The evening ended around the fire with stories about far off lands and adventurers, as told by traveling Rangers and Gandalf the Grey. Even Bilbo himself made an appearance to share readings from the Hobbit.

If Copper Kettle events seem like your cup of tea, there are several more planned for the future, including a new tea in July: Winnie the Pooh Tea. August brings back the pirates and mermaids for the Annual Under the Sea Tea. Follow the Copper Kettle on social media or check the website for scheduled events or call to reserve your own themed tea: www.TheCopperKettleTeaBar or 251-609-2832.
