Wild Things Art Fest combines a day at the zoo and local artists

Posted

In collaboration with the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, the first Gulf Coast Arts Alliance Art Market of the spring season, Wild Things Art Fest, promises a day of animals and art. The wild time kicks off May 22 at 9 a.m. till 3 p.m.

With abundant space and set up opportunity, this venue promises to be the ideal festival site for a sunny May display of local art. The goals of the Gulf Coast Arts Alliance (GCAA) are to bring awareness to the Gulf Shores community of the amazing talent of artists in the region and allow patrons to view the beauty and amenities of the City’s expanded and updated Zoo.

The family friendly festival will feature a face painting tent set up for the kiddos and animal art demos by the Zoo’s very own animal Picassos. Word is that Kevin Bacon, the pig and Bruce Quillis, the porcupine, are super talented

There will also be live music throughout the day. GCAA music teacher, Kim Shannon, and the Spinnaker Band will kick off the tunes at 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. Local musician, Destiny Brown, will take the stage at noon and again at 2 p.m.

The Wild Things Art Fest is a free event. Festival artists will receive free admission to the Zoo and GCAA members will receive a Zoo entry discount. Anyone associated with GCAA, members or artists, will also receive a discount to dine at the Zoo’s Safari Club Restaurant. Please stop by the GCAA Gallery to pick up your discount cards.

The Wild Things Art Fest is a great opportunity for local artists to show their art at the Zoo, meet fellow artists and support the community through the two presenting nonprofits, the Gulf Coast Arts Alliance and the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo.

Artists can sign up at the GCAA Gallery or by calling 251-948-2627. The exhibiting fee is $50 for members and $60 for non-members. Space is limited to only 45 artists.

The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is located at 20499 Oak Road E., Gulf Shores. For more information, contact the Gulf Coast Arts Alliance at 251-948-2627.
