SPANISH FORT – Spanish Fort police and Baldwin County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a string of robberies in which victims were held up at gunpoint after arranging to sell items through social media, according to police reports.

The three robberies occurred in the Spanish Fort and Bromley areas, the report said.

In the robberies, victims seeking to sell items were directed to go to a particular location to make the sale. When they arrived, a group of men held them up at gunpoint and took the items intended for sale and other property.

In all three cases the robbers were armed with handguns.

Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office officials are urging the public to be aware of the dangers of these types of transactions and to use safe exchange zones to make the transaction, the report said. The BCSO recommends going to a police station to make the transaction.

Spanish Fort police and Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office investigators are working to identify the suspects in the three cases. The suspects are described younger African American men who could be from the Bromley area.
