ROBERTSDALE — The Robertsdale Centennial Committee is looking for teams to participate in a chili cookoff that will be held during the Honeybee Festival on Nov. 6.

It is free to enter, said Centennial Committee Chair Stephanie Kroll. Applications should be submitted to Robertsdale City Hall no later than 3 p.m. Nov. 1.

“This is another fun thing we can do to help celebrate Robertsdale’s Centennial,” Kroll said. “We’re just hoping that everyone will come out and enjoy themselves as we continue to celebrate the city of Robertsdale.”

All teams are required to cook chili on site. Everyone needs to set up by 7:45 a.m. and be prepared to 300 small taster cups. Cups and spoons will be provided.

Awards will be presented at 11 a.m. for Grand Champion, Runner-up, Best in Show (overall setup and presentation) and People’s Choice.

The Robertsdale Centennial Committee will have a booth set up at the Festival, selling commemorative coins, different styles of coffee mugs and hats, Kroll said. The Robertsdale Centennial Queens will also be passing out balloons to all children.

The City of Robertsdale kicked off its Centennial Celebration with a series of events beginning July 4.

All proceeds raised during the events will go toward a Centennial Scholarship, which will be awarded to a RHS senior, Kroll said.

The Centennial will culminate in a pair of events scheduled for February of 2022, a parade on Feb. 19 and a Roaring 20s-themed Birthday Bash “Centennial Ball” to be held Feb. 26, which will include a DJ for dancing, dinner and a “Happy Birthday” serenade with cake.
