Bay Minette hosts Arbor Day

BAY MINETTE, Alabama — The Bay Minette Beautification Committee distributed nearly 1,500 trees as part of its annual Arbor Day tree giveaway held Saturday, Feb. 27 at the Bay Minette City Hall/Civic Center complex.

Tree varieties included river birch, red bud, red maple, sourwood, white oak, Shumard oak, elderberry, Caroline silverbells, Loblolly pine and Sweetbay magnolia. Residents were limited to eight trees per household (two per species).

In addition, Bush Farms was on hand to sell assorted fruit trees and bushes and B’s Bees sold a variety of honey products. The event was manned by Beautification Committee members and volunteers with the Baldwin County Master Gardeners. Crossroads Church also set up a free coffee and doughnut station for residents to enjoy.

The Committee also wishes to thank Baldwin County Conservation District for its partnership on this project.
