DAPHNE, Ala. - Daphne High School Administration and Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Casey Craig as our Head Volleyball Coach.

Coach Casey Craig is a native of Huntsville, Alabama. She graduated from Grissom High School where she played volleyball  including a state runner up and Elite 8 finish. She also participated in softball and basketball. She went on to play a year at Lagrange College earning Freshman of the Year and All Conference honors. She transferred home to Alabama A&M University and was a part of two conference championship teams.

Coach Craig finished up her academics at Athens State University earning a degree in Liberal Studies. Following in her mother’s footsteps, who coached volleyball for over 20 years, she has 10 years of coaching experience herself.

“I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity to coach at Daphne High School,” Craig said. “Coming from a big program like Grissom playing and coaching under one of the best coaches in the state and watching my mom coach for over 20 years, it’s been a dream to coach at a big 7A school. I think Daphne is the perfect fit for that.”

Three years with NASA Volleyball Club and five with RCVC in Huntsville coaching age groups from 12-18. Craig has spent the last four years as an assistant at Grissom High School coaching junior varsity, freshmen and varsity. Previously she spent two years at John Paul II Catholic High School as the JV head coach and then varsity head coach noting a Final Four appearance.

DHS Athletic Director Kenny King said she is a leader who brings a wealth of knowledge and success to the Daphne program.

“Additionally, she will be a coach and a teacher that inspires Trojans with her passion for athletic and academic excellence,” he said. “Coach Casey has volleyball and the art of coaching in her DNA. She is a great coach and an incredible teacher that will bring energy, dedication and passion to our volleyball program and our Athletic Department.”

Daphne High Principal Fletcher Comer said that everyone at DHS is excited to meet the new leader of their volleyball program and are enthusiastic about the future.

“Coach Casey is well-rounded, qualified, and well respected,” he said. “She has the energy and commitment that will make her a great fit for the Daphne Trojans Family. We are excited to hire a coach that will relentlessly pursue success for our program and our school.”

Tryouts begin in May.
