EMA urges Baldwin residents to be prepared for storms

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — At this time, the Baldwin County EMA is encouraging all citizens and visitors in Baldwin County to monitor the storms and be prepared to take action to ensure their personal safety should Tropical Storm Laura directly impact our area.

Now is a good time to review your emergency plans for your household. Discuss your emergency plans with your family. We encourage you to obtain your information from reliable local resources.

PREPARE NOW:

  • Monitor the weather updates from Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency and National Weather Service Mobile for local reliable information.
  • Check disaster supplies kit, including food, water, medications and clothing. A complete disaster supply kit list can be found at ready.gov.
  • Fill vehicles with fuel.
  • Move or secure lawn furniture, outdoor decorations or ornaments, trash cans, hanging plants and anything else that can be picked up by wind and become a projectile.
  • Before imminent threat, identify where you would go if you are instructed to evacuate.
  • If you are told to evacuate, do so immediately. You may choose to evacuate sooner than alerted if you think you may need additional time.
  • Be sure to make advanced safety preparations for your pets. Be aware that pets may not be allowed in shelters.
