Highland Group renovates Claude Peteet Mariculture Center

Posted

The Highland Group is underway with renovations at the Claude Peteet Mariculture Center (CPMC) in Gulf Shores. Auburn University awarded the real estate development and commercial construction firm a renovation project to improve existing facilities at the beloved Mariculture Center to aid in further research of gulf coast fisheries.

Since 1973, CMPC has been a vital part of the Alabama seafood industry's sustainability efforts. The center restocks depleted fisheries, examines environmental risks and conducts research to study the history, life, and preservation of marine ecology. The red drum, Florida pompano, and southern flounder are a few examples of saltwater fish cultured at CPMC.

As big supporters of the Coastal Conservation Association, this renovation project has been especially meaningful to the Highland Group team. “I love taking my kids fishing, and I want generations to come to be able to enjoy the magnificent marine life Alabama has to offer,” said C. Scott Shamburger, President & CEO of the Highland Group. “The contributions of Auburn University and the Claude Peteet Mariculture Center are immeasurable, and it is an honor to be able to help improve their facilities," he continued. “We have one of our bright young stars in Tyler Cluckey as the project manager and he is doing a great job.”
